NATHAN RETTIG MEMORIAL COTTON BOLL CUP
October 3-4, 2008 | Jacob was back in action this weekend as the Malden Speedway hosted the 5th Annual Nathan Rettig Memorial Cotton Boll Cup. The race paid $1,200 each night to the winner of the Late Model class. Jacob drew a twenty-two for Friday night to start third in the first of four heats. He was in the top four for most of the race, but finished in the eighth position. After the race, Jacob found some damage on the inside of his car. He made a quick fix and hoped that it would hold up in the b-main. Jacob couldn't make anything happen in the race, as he finished sixth and was unable to transfer to the feature. Jacob drew a forty-nine on the second night to start fifth in the last heat. He finished seventh, therefore sending him to the b-main. Jacob gained only one position in his race to finish four spots shy of a transfer spot in the sixth position.
BLACK CHALLENGES THE FASTRAK TOURING SERIES!
September 12-13, 2008 | The Malden Speedway hosted a two-day show this weekend, which features the USCS Sprints and Modifieds and the FASTRAK Late Models. Jacob drew a six for this event and started in the second position of the first heat. Points champion Billy James won the heat with Jacob close behind. The feature would not run until the following night. On Saturday afternoon, Jacob started third in the feature and stayed near the front to finish in the sixth position. The Malden Speedway will be closed until the fifth annual Nathan Rettig Memorial Cotton Boll Cup, which will take place on October 2-3-4. SATURDAY BRINGS A MAJOR PILE-UP!
September 6, 2008 | After drawing the twenty-five pill at Malden, Jacob started in the sixth position in the first of two heats. He finished in the same spot and started eleventh in the feature. Throughout the race, Jacob gained several spots. With five laps to go, he was starting to catch the top five until tragedy struck. Four cars piled up and Jacob had nowhere to go. His night was finished as he went home with a bent shock and broken bars.
JACOB TAKES ANOTHER TOP TEN AT MALDEN!
August 29, 2008 | Jacob was finally back in action this past Friday after a series of rain-outs. He started seventh in the second heat of another FASTRAK series event. He finished seventh in the race to start fourteenth in the feature. He gained a few positions throughout the race to finish in the ninth position. Jacob will be back in action at Malden on September sixth.
THE MALDEN SPEEDWAY HOSTS THE MSRA!

August 8, 2008 | Jacob is back this weekend, this time with the MSRA Super Late Models. He started fourth in the second heat. After getting beat by a nose to finish seventh in the race, Jacob had to start in the b-main in order to make the show. He was unsuccessful in the race and didn't start the feature.

FIRST TIME WITH DOUBLE FEATURES AT MALDEN!

August 1, 2008 | Jacob finally makes his unveiling at Malden, as the races were on this past Friday. He drew a seventy, putting him in the sixth position in the first heat. He gained one position to finish fifth. Jacob started and finished ninth in the first of two features. He started fifth in the second feature, which was strictly for FASTRAK points. He finished the race seventh. Jacob is now back to racing a full schedule, with his next race being at Malden as the MSRA Super Late Models will put on a show for $2,000 to win and $300 to start.

JACOB'S FIRST APPEARANCE AT CLAYHILL!
July 26, 2008 | Jacob was scheduled to make his first late model appearance this Friday at the Malden Speedway, however, the race was called due to rain. Instead, Jacob made his first ever appearance at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN. He drew pill one hundred thirty and started seventh in the first heat. Jacob transferred into the feature to start nineteenth. He spotted temperature trouble and acted fast to get the car off the track to avoid more problems. He finished the race in the twentieth position. The temperature problem with the car has been solved and Team JBR is now ready for this weekend's race at Malden.

JACOB MAKES HIS RETURN TO THE DIRT OVAL!

July 17, 2008 | After being out of racing for weeks, Jacob will finally make his return to dirt. This time around, he wont be behind the wheel of a street car, but instead a crate late model. The 'Snake' sold his street car a couple of weeks ago. Jacob is scheduled for a test session this Friday at the Malden Speedway and will be back to racing a full schedule up until the end of the year. "I am very excited about getting back in the seat and although it will be a big adjustment I look forward to the learning and experience I will get. Congrats to the Van Buren girls softball team for defeating East Carter 14-5 to take 3rd in the season end tournament!

VAN BUREN SOFTBALL DEFEATS CLEARWATER 9-1

 A local softball team consisting of fourteen and  under girls, sponsored by JBR, celebrated a  victory after defeating Clearwater with a 9-1 win.  We would like to congratulate them and wish them  the best of luck on their next game.

TOP FIVE FINISH FOR THIS WEEKEND!

May 23, 2008 | After a weekend without racing, problems with the #20 pure street seem to have subsided. With two DNFs in a row, Jacob made another trip to Malden in hopes of having a good last run in the class. He will start the late model class next month with a minor change in the paint scheme. Tonight, Jacob drew a thirty-five making him the outside pole sitter in the third heat. He went to the front before the first lap concluded. He led every lap and went on to win his first heat race of the season. Winning the race put him on the outside pole yet again, this time for the feature event. He was only one of many contenders for this race, finishing fifth and marking his second top five of the season.

BYE, BYE, '79!

May 23, 2008 | Jacob has made the decision to leave the world of street cars and enter something totally new. This week, Jacob purchased his first late model. He had a practice session behind the wheel of one on Tuesday and really enjoyed driving it. It was a thrill for him and he hopes that he will have a great season competing in the late model class.

JACOB'S TROUBLE CONTINUES AT MALDEN!

May 9, 2008 | After car problems and being unable to finish the feature last week, Jacob came back to Malden this past Friday night. It was the weekend of the 2nd Annual Bootheel 200 two-day show. The pure street class had regular payouts, as the show only involved modifieds and sprint cars. He drew the number ten pill, which is also his best pill this season. He started on the outside pole in the first heat. Jacob started to fall back mid-race and finished fifth. After the heat, he started thirteenth in the feature. He was holding his ground at the start of the race, but his car started missing, so Jacob decided to pull off and take his second DNF. Saturday's race was canceled due to rain.

May 3, 2008 | This weekend at the Malden Speedway, Chastidy got to draw Jacob's pill for her birthday. She drew a fifty, putting him in the fourth position in the second heat. He had a good run at the start of the race, but near the end, his car started to lose momentum. He lost a position, finishing the heat fifth. Jacob started tenth in the feature after he checked his engine for problems. He gained a few positions at the beginning of the race, but near the end, his car started having trouble. He decided to leave the track and was unable to finish the race. Points standings have been updated.

THE WEEKEND ROLLS THROUGH AT MALDEN!

April 20, 2008 | Jacob headed down to the Malden Speedway for a two day show this past weekend. On night one, he drew a thirty-five, putting him third in the third heat. He finished the race fourth. Jacob started twelfth in the feature. He gained and lost positions throughout the race. He finished in a solid ninth position. There weren't as many cars on night two, being a Sunday. Jacob started fourth in the second heat. The track was impassable most of the nigh, therefore, Jacob retained the fourth spot when the race was over. Starting eighth in the feature, the pure street class would be going fifteen laps. He had an impressive run, as he started making his way to the front. When the race was over, he placed in the top five for the first time this season, finishing fourth.

JACOB SPENDS HIS SATURDAY AT WEST PLAINS!

April 12, 2008 | This weekend, Jacob rolled into West Plains. He drew a thirty-five and started sixth in the first heat. He finished the race sixth, which put him eleventh in the feature. He had a rough start in the feature due to car trouble. He got as high as tenth place, but had to pull off the track. He came back on to give it another go, but his car was still having trouble. Jacob was unable to finish the race.
